About IFMSA

The International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA), founded in 1951, is one of the world's oldest and largest student-run organizations. It represents, connects and engages every day with an inspiring network of more than 1.5 million medical students from 133 National Member Organizations in 123 countries around the globe.

About IFMSA-Jo

The International Federation of Medical Students' Associations - Jordan (IFMSA-Jo) was founded in 2006 as a non-governmental organization of medical students in Jordan, by medical students and for medical students. It is a dynamic platform of opportunities for Jordan's future physicians and serves as their voice nationally and internationally.

IFMSA-Jo is committed to serving the Jordanian community through public-health and medical-awareness campaigns, support for orphans and older people, environmental action and other student-led initiatives. It also focuses on medical students across Jordan, encouraging community contribution and voluntarism while equipping them with the tools and skills to become exemplary future doctors.

IFMSA-Jo is the largest student-run organization in Jordan representing medical students at Jordan University of Science and Technology, the University of Jordan, the Hashemite University, Mu'tah University, Yarmouk University, Al-Balqa Applied University and Aqaba Medical Sciences University.

IFMSA-Jo became a full member of IFMSA in 2012. Since then, it has been active in the international federation through student development, international exchange programs, national and international conferences, workshops and medical-student assemblies. IFMSA-Jo represents Jordanian medical students during IFMSA General Assemblies alongside National Member Organizations from around the world.

Vision

To have all medical students in Jordan united for local and global health and equipped with the knowledge, skills and values to take on health leadership roles locally and globally.

Mission

IFMSA-Jo unites medical students in Jordan to lead initiatives that positively impact the communities we serve. It represents the opinions and ideas of future physicians in healthcare, medical education and human rights locally and globally, and works in collaboration with external partners. IFMSA-Jo builds capacity through training, projects and exchange opportunities while embracing cultural diversity to shape a sustainable and healthy future.

Structure

National coordination. Local action.

IFMSA-Jo operates through a three-level structure that ensures effective coordination, representation and implementation across the organization. At the National Level, the Team of Officials, Supervising Council, Assistants and Program Coordinators oversee the national direction, support Local Committees and coordinate the Federation's activities and programs. At the Local Level, IFMSA-Jo consists of seven Local Committees, each supported by its own Local Team of Officials, Supervising Council and Assistants. This structure creates a strong connection between the national and local levels, enabling communication, capacity building, coordination and implementation of IFMSA-Jo's vision across all seven Local Committees.
