Professional and research exchanges combine education, cultural understanding and an international student network.
A student-led exchange network
IFMSA created its exchange network to foster cooperation and collaboration among medical students, break down social barriers, promote dialogue and create international clinical-learning opportunities through SCOPE in 1951.
SCORE was founded in 1991 as the Standing Committee on Electives Exchanges and later became the Standing Committee on Research Exchange, expanding access to supervised scientific projects around the world.

Each year, more than 200 medical students in Jordan explore healthcare delivery, research and health systems in different cultural and social settings. Clinical and research projects usually last four weeks and aim to develop culturally sensitive students, capable clinicians and skilled researchers.
Exchanges are commonly handled on a bilateral basis. Students receive a place in a clinical department or research project, lodging and accommodation and, often, a social program. A tutor supports the student throughout the exchange and encourages active participation and skills development.
Academic quality is documented through a student handbook containing records of completed tasks and department-specific skills checklists. Some international checklists were developed with organizations including WONCA, FIGO and the World Federation of Neurology.
An official certificate is issued only when the program requirements are met, the handbook is completed and the student attends at least 80% of the clerkship. It is signed by the tutor and host exchange officer and may support academic credit at the student's home university.

Participation in IFMSA Professional and Research Exchange Programs is open to medical students in IFMSA-Jo. Applications are submitted through official calls published on national and Local Committee social-media platforms.
