Yarmouk University Local Committee

History

Established in 2016 within Yarmouk University's Faculty of Medicine in Irbid, YU Local Committee is a community of medical students brought together by a shared commitment to learning, leadership, community engagement and positive change.

As part of IFMSA-Jo, YULC provides opportunities beyond the classroom through education, research, professional and cultural exchange, advocacy and community-based initiatives. These experiences help students become well-rounded physicians who understand both medicine and the communities they serve.

To cultivate a community of well-rounded physicians equipped with the knowledge, skills and values needed to contribute meaningfully to their communities and society.

Mission

To empower Yarmouk University medical students through education, research, professional exchange, advocacy, leadership and community engagement.

Objectives

• Empower medical students to use their knowledge, skills and capacities to contribute positively to their communities and society.
• Provide personal, professional and scientific development through education, training, research and extracurricular initiatives.
• Promote community engagement and social responsibility through projects addressing health and societal needs.
• Facilitate cultural and professional exchange and expose students to different healthcare systems, cultures and perspectives.
• Encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange among students, organizations, healthcare professionals and relevant institutions.
• Develop leadership, communication, teamwork and other skills essential to becoming a well-rounded physician.
• Create platforms for students to discuss health, education, science and societal issues and participate in shaping solutions.
